It's warm somewhere, right?

We are going to pretend that it is not raining/sleeting/snowing/hell freezing over outside today.  We will choose to be in denial even though our shoes are soaked from puddles, the heater is going instead of the A/C, that the tips of our noses are cold and we're layering on socks and sweatshirts in order to keep warm.

Instead, we will remember how last Friday we dug out the shorts and the t-shirts from storage and pulled out the bikes.  We'll remember how the sun felt on our pasty white limbs and how good it felt to run through the grass and pedal as fast as we could.

We'll taste again the first popsicles of the season.  How they melted on our tongues and how the last little bits hit the ground before we could get them into our mouths.

We'll put on our new kicks that the sunshine required us to buy at Target.

And then we'll remember the silly drinking glasses Daddy brought home from his business trip to Minneapolis and how we slurped up ice cold lemonade because, again, the sunshine required something to keep us cool.  We'll remember how funny it felt to have lemonade swirl around our straws on our faces.  (However, we will forget how using the silly straws made us spill our lemonade all over our game of Candy Land and onto our new clothes.)

And in case remembering how warm and summery last Friday was, we'll try to think about being made to wait outside of Kingsbury Hall for 30 minutes two Fridays ago like a heard of cattle in the hot, hot sun while we waited to be let in because the doors were locked.  Waiting is hard.

But the waiting was worth it to see this goof graduate from the University of Utah Fine Arts Department with a Bachelors degree in Music Education.

And last of all, we'll remember a surprise visit from Uncle Conor and cousin Leila and how good it was to stop and smell the tulips.

I love this post. I hope we have some more warm, sunny days so that we can make more memories.

Aww I miss last Friday too! And Rome was asking for popsicles for breakfast even though the one he picked from the ice cream truck was nasty and so he ate the one I was sharing with Capri. They were good!

Straw glasses?! I gotta find some of those! Nice post. And, yes, it is warm somewhere, but if it helps soothe your possible weather-related-jealousy any, in this warm place the lawn is trying to die because there's no rain. So, you know, your grass actually IS greener.
