Daylight savings. Daylight savings is a riot because now kids are getting up at 6:00 am even though they go to bed at their regular time. Well, new regular time because of the time switch and all. It's so fun that they're tired all day. And grouchy. Love that.
Snow is a lot of fun too, especially when you're trying to get two tired, grouchy, slower than dirt kids out the door and into the car and trying to keep them from wading in the pond in the parking lot so you can make it to a doctor's appointment that was actually an hour earlier than you thought it was. So much fun.
Three year olds think shots are fun. They love feeling awful for two days. And it makes my back feel so good because the 3 year old insists on being carried because her legs ache from the shots.
Want to know what else is fun? I'll tell ya.
Taking an already tired, already grouchy nervous by nature 5 year old to get his eyes checked right after school. It's a blast when the doctor decides they need to dilate the 5 year old's eyes and we have to sit and wait for 30 minutes and the 5 year old is complaining that everything looks wobbly and he doesn't want to be there anymore and the 3 year old is thisclose to having a complete and utter meltdown in the eye doctor's lobby.
We've been having a grand old time around here. True story.

Here are my thoughts.
Sorry about the grouchy and all that.
Why are you putting them to bed at regular time? This is the perfect opportunity to scooch bed time up an extra hour. 6:30 anyone?
I was here by myself yesterday afternoon. You should have brought Emily over.
But see, if I put them to bed at 6:30 they'd be up at 5:30. They usually go to bed at 7:00. :(
And there wasn't time, Mom. Emily had ballet, then I picked up both kids at 12:00, ran home, fixed a lunch quick, potty stop, back in the car and to the eye doctor by 1:00. I wouldn't have been able to get her there and back to the doctor on time. And we didn't get back until nearly 3:00. Thanks, though.
wow, that really DOES sound like a grand old time. :)
"everything looks wobbly" made me laugh--what a great description of how having dilated eyes feels!
